St. John and St. Anne Churches Parish of Hythe

Information about the Parish

Hythe is a small busy town (although affectionately referred to as a village by its residents) situated between the New Forest and Southampton Water, known as the Waterside Area.

Because of its south coast location, Hythe and the Waterside Area is a popular place to retire and it also attracts many visitors during the summermonths. Public transport is readily available in the form of buses plus a ferry to Southampton.

Hythe is well served with facilities which include infant and junior schools located in the Parish. Secondary schools, colleges and a Leisure Centre are within easy reach, as are medical centres, a cottage hospital and dental surgeries.

St John’s Church is in the centre of the town. It is a typical Victorian church around 150 years old which is structurally sound and well maintained. There have been many improvements and/or repairs carried out over recent years with more in the pipeline. The churches are supported by Friends of St John’s in various projects for which funds are raised through social events.
